Alexandra Heloise Godfrey, M.S., P.A.-C, works as a Physician Assistant in a busy emergency department in rural North Carolina. Her deep love for language along with a passion for medicine have found their expression in the medical humanities: “through storytelling and poetry, I can express those dimensions of suffering, loss, healing and hope that life brings.” Alexandra has written for a variety of journals, including Confluence, Cell2Soul, Pulse, the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, The Yale Journal, The Healing Muse, and Blood and Thunder. She is also an author and columnist for the New England Journal of Medicine. She lives with her four children, her husband, and their pet rooster in the middle of nowhere, having relocated from the UK for a “two-year gig”.
